Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Two citizens of Kaysersberg

I don't often take photographs of people in the street as I find it a tad embarrassing. However, I couldn't resist these two senior Kaysersbergeois. I thought, by the look in the lady's eye that they were none too pleased to have their photograph taken but as it turned out they were delighted and came across to chat and to see their portrait. Phew!

Kaysersberg is an ancient fortified town in the wine-growing region of Alsace in north-eastern France. The fortress dominating the town is a a reminder its strategic importance and its warlike past. Before World War One, Kaysersberg was part of Germany and then known as Kaisersberg.

Kaisersberg is the birthplace of Albert Schweitzer (1875?1965), the famous theologian, musician, philosopher, and medical missionary.
