MASS MoCA

With our friend Daralee, today we visited the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, universally known as MASS MoCA (in North Adams).

The bright piece of art seen through the window on the left is part of a wall painting by Sol LeWitt, an American artist. MASS MoCA is showing a simply marvelous long-term installation of his art ( (through 2033, on three floors). I blipped another view over a year ago.

The museum has been installed in over a half-dozen enormous factory buildings in this former mill town, with huge galleries that are perfect for contemporary art. This view is from a staircase between two of the buildings.

Earlier in the day we visited the nearby Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, to see an exhibition on Pissaro's People, as well as wonderful large-scale photographs by Thomas Struth and Candida Höfer, called Spaces (German photographers in a modern but also classical mode). The link shows all their images--worth taking a look.
