Marco Polo

We went for a lovely meal tonight in a new restaurant just below our hotel.
The Marco Polo Restaurant is in Dock Street, Dundee.

We hadn't appreciated just how new the restaurant was until we got chatting to the Maitre D and hen the owner Nael Hanna (pictured).

Nael, originally from Iraq and a bit of an explorer himself, was a delightful guy, very excited about his new business, and rightly so. Being an artist (see his stuff on the above link) the styling of the restaurant itself and the art on the walls around the place were all his originals.

This was their second night of public opening. It was a soft launch, to give them a chance to get up to speed so not much advertising and given it is currently surrounded by roadworks, the passing trade is limited, so it was quiet, but not empty.

It has a very broad mix of food styles on the menu, reflecting the travels of the explorer himself. The food was excellent so I would heartily recommend it if you're in the area.
