Captain's Logbook

Family life (dad suffering from man flu)

Many thanks to everyone for their kind words of support from the other day. I'm still feeling rough though, only three hours sleep last night - no good at all.

I mooched around the garden looking for butterflies as part of the Big Butterfly Count In 15 minutes I managed to count a grand total of 0.

Maybe it was too late in the day, maybe it was too windy, maybe they all packed up and went home when it rained really hard for a short while earlier. Maybe they all had horrible coughs and had gone to bed!

Whilst looking for another subject I came across this area of the garden where we "store" stuff. In this family "storing" things means piling up junk that we don't want and letting it deteriorate to the point that is useless to anybody, whereupon the adults pay the children to "help" take it to the dump.

Reflecting on this - we pay for the stuff in the first place, we pay for the space where it is "stored", some of this stuff we have paid to bring with us on TWO house moves, then we pay to get rid of it! John Lewis didn't tell us about all these extra costs when they sold us the bikes, climbing frames, bike racks, roofrack boxes etc.

It's an expensive business this family thing!

Oh well. I didn't want a Ferrari really.
