OOPA

I tried to photograph the OOPA in this pond in Warrington but it was a bit rubbish.

OOPA stands for Out Of Place Animal, and this particular one is a terrapin. It is quite a large creature too and paddles about sedately, pausing to stick its head out of the water in a cute (but highly reflective water surfacy) way.

Such creatures are usually the result of pet owners deciding they do not want to be pet owners any more and dumping their poor animal.

I am glad in this case the terrapin seems to be very serene and happy in its pond. I think it did well out of the arrangement!
