Aeolus, an installation by Luke Jerram

Aeolus has just been installed at Lyme Park. Aeolus is a specially designed acoustic pavilion that will resonate and sing with the wind. The artwork was inspired by the desert wells of Iran.

This sculpture was unveiled to the Press as we arrived at the Park today, and from 2pm it was open to the public..

The tubes glistened in the sun, and the artist looked proudly on as the public inspected his work. Children shouted down the tubes but the artist didn't seem to mind, he appeared happy that people were curious and interested.

Unfortunately, the installation did not ring while we were there because the air was too still. It is in an exposed spot, so given the North West weather, it's likely that it will be singing often and loudly.

Aeolus is on tour, so will be going to MediaCity in Salford and then to the Eden Project. Hopefully, we will get to hear it sing another time.
