Next Year the Tour de France

Day 5 of Holiday Part 1 at Longleat

We went to Wookey Hole today and I had hoped to have taken some shots down in the caves. That was scuppered by children being pathetic and needing to be carried or carefully guided throughout the tour. Therefore, despite some breathtaking scenes, they are all just in my memory and no photos to show for it.

I know that caravan holidays are not everyone's cup of tea but one of the things that I love about them is that you stay in a relatively secure environment and the kids make new friends at the drop of a hat. Therefore you can send them out to play and they just get on with life as a child, having a great time and succumbing to endless amounts of peer pressure.

Alex got the bike in the photo above for his birthday last year. He seemed keen to have a bike and we'd had it in the loft for a couple of years having received it second-hand from friends who wanted a good home for their son's first bike. He has steadfastly refused to ride it and on the last occasion we tried to persuade him, I ended up carrying it around most of a circular route . The day we arrived at Longleat, Becky headed off on her bike and Alex followed on foot but, seeing lots of other boys and girls on their bikes (including many with stabilisers), he decided to get onto his bike and now people around the site can hardly believe that this was the first time he had ridden it properly as he just zooms around like a natural.

I am now half tempted to take the stabilisers off but don't want to set him back at all so will hold back on that for now.
