New OfficeDelivery

Early in the morning, actually in the dark, the new office arrived. It is a temporary building which will be a tough ask to work in as it is small and could be cold, but a necsessity as our actual office is going to be demolished as part of the earthquake replacement plan. This crane lifted it over the garage and onto a spot on the other side. It was at the extreme end of its lifting ability and caused a few anxious moments when it was going to be placed down on the ground as the boom part was hitting the roof edges. A bit of repositioning of the truck later we were able to get it into place. We were happy to see some progress but I guess now we will have to pay for it. Over $20 000 which is not covered by insurance costs. Mmm...

Been a rough week not much blipping. A good friend Bill Perry died this week of meningitus. We saw him on the Friday afternoon looking distressed and disorientated at the airport, and were shocked to find out later that he had died that night. You never think that someone can be that ill, that quickly. A terrrible shock for everyone. An amazing man who has achieved a great deal. His 5500 staff will be very grateful for the legacy he left in the workplace. His friends will mourn his absence for a long time.
