The wind was coming right off the ice today and it was a matter of hiding in the car with the heater on.

This classic shot of the 'Himantopus himantopus' or the Poaka was taken along Humpries Drive. These are found throughout the world in temperate and tropical regions - Not too bloody tropical here at the moment - so why are you here ??

I love these little birds - they are part of my young days camping at Waikuku - and I loved their yapping call as they came into land. They have such delicate feet - I'm sure S Horrigans would love these ones ??
