Stockholm Pride March 2011

As usual we were watching the Pride Parade at Hornsgatan, Södermalm (South Island).

Here's the Social Democrats marching for LGBT rights and showing solidarity with the Norwegian People after the tragic terrorist deeds on the 22 July.

All the major political parties took part in the Pride March, as usual, as well as the Police Force, The Defence Force, Proud Parents, Dykes on Bikes, Queer Crips, the British Embassy, various trade unions, "Marching for those who can't" (with representatives from e. g. Zambia, Uganda and Eastern Europe), the Church of Sweden (the former state church), sports teams and - you name it! True diversity.

About 50 000 people were marching and 450 000 were watching. The Pride Park in Kungsträdgården (King's Garden) has had about 300 000 visitors during Stockholm Pride Week.

If you're into celebrities, you can spot former leader of the Social Democrats, Mona Sahlin and one of Sweden's most popular comedians, Jonas Gardell (walking side by side in the right end of the blip). In the parade we also spotted our Prime Ministers Wife (she's also Head of the County Government of Stockholm Region/County), the Minister of Justice, The Minister of Gender Equality and many more.

One Year Ago: Still caught in the Fifth Dimension
