Onion sprouts

The wrought-iron accessories that decorate the Strozzi palace, are by an iron-worker named Caparra.
Legend has it that in order to get the job Caparra pretended to have relinquished the trade and have become an onion seller.
Filippo Strozzi spotted him selling on the square opposite his almost completed new palace, and offered him the job.
Caparra's gratitude to the onions inspired a new style.

Four lanterns decorate the corners of the palace. This, which is said to be the only surviving one from the original set, is now on the opposite side of the road.
