Beach Treasure

It is uncommon to find an entire glass bottle at the beach unless it is a recent discard (usually beer, or the ubiquitous plastic water bottle) from a thoughtless litterer. Even pieces of wonderfully tumbled sea glass aren't as common as they used to be.

This bottle has been in the sea awhile because of its coating of barnacles. In addition, the crimped metal cap is still firmly attached, though rusty, and there is liquid inside filling about a third of the bottle. Whether it is the original contents, the rest having evaporated, or sea water that somehow seeped in around the cap, I do not know. Neither will we ever know where it came from or how long it has been afloat. The sea is full of mystery!!
