horns of wilmington's cow

If you could see his throat...

... it would be white... For tis a Whitethroat, a lovely little warbler. A first for the garden (that we've seen). Mel had called me over after seeing something 'different' hopping about in the veg patch. It wasn't this chap, but rather a Willow Warbler (another first for the garden, and very very almost blipped - but I liked the sneaky feel of the Whitethroat).

I was supposed to be going to the velodrome today to watch some of the Scottish National Champs track racing, but given the place doesn't have a roof, and the only shares in Edinburgh which are doing well at the moment are those in companies looking to build Arks, it was cancelled. So it's been a day of indoors, save a wee trip to the garden centre. And until these unexpected birds arrived you would have got another blip of our mad little cat.

At least it has meant that a bit more of the website has been done (next issue online on Friday) and I've tried my hand at some gluten-free bread baking (hmmmm, odd, though fine toasted actually). Oh, and gluten-free gnocchi (definite different texture to the 'dough', but that worked as well as any other flour in the mix). All part of an ongoing allergy-hunt which I'm determined to get to the bottom of.

Now, need to find out if I'm having to make the rest of dinner as well tonight, or if the slumbering beauty that is Mel can be safely roused from the sofa...
