All Along The Clocktower

For many years the 1960s clock was stuck on 11:24, but the clock mechanism is now working. I don't think the little person that used to come out on the hour to strike the chimes is working though, so they are stuck in limbo - hammer raised, but never to fall.

After dark, the clock is illuminated with coloured lights. Views on it are divided, but there is a Facebook group that seems to cherish it.

There's some good discussion of it's architectural merits here including a picturre which gives a clearer image of the tower in its setting in the Market Square.

This post has sparked quite a lively debate on Twitter - vast majority of folk saying they love it.
