Ramblings of an Academic

Cat no 1

Well this was what greeted me this evening on coming to bed. This is Ricki my older cat in her basket. She must be over 15 years old possibly nearly 16 as I have had her since August '97 & she hasn't grown at all in that time. Difficult to tell from this blip but she is small - more like a half-grown kitten. However she is still as fast as ever - we get the odd dead rodent to prove she can still catch things. She lived feral for a while hence the hunting instinct. Her only sign of age is hyper-thyroidism which is common in older cats. Means getting. A tablet down her twice a day - now doing this by hiding it in bit of her meat at food time after a few too many scratches from putting it straight in her. After 14 years with her I will be lost when she finally passes away but vet reckons she probably has a few years yet.
