Another excerpt from Granny's diary

Wet day again so had to be an inside blip. Came across my Granny's diary again so thought you might like to see another wee excerpt from the back pages where she kept a record of important purchases and other interesting goings on!

A second hand tractor was bought for £130 in Lanark. Quite a lot of money in those days.

Grandfather took to his bed with heart trouble in December 1944. He survived until February 1947 when the farm road- end which was deep in snow had to be dug out three times to get him to the cemetery.

Jenny was a Clydesdale and bolted with the cart from the midden . Mum says you could hear her shoes clanking off the cart. She was stopped a mile away by a neighbour.

Granny got 10 corns removed !!!! on the same day that the water pipe was scraped!

I just love reading this and my Mum can still remember all this as if it was yesterday. She has a better memory than me.
