Once a Day in the West

"Are we nearly there yet?"

"No" was the simple answer to that.

This forms part of a series of pics taken on the reliable old Blackberry of our long train journeys, south to London via Northampton and then back up north to Scotland. It rained (a lot!) on both journeys, so we now have an 'ironic summer holiday' album of dreary railway stations photographed in the teeming rain to remind ourselves of the fun we had!

As you can see, we did a lot of snacking as well as staring gloomily out of the windows at the rain - but we also had lots of fun in-between the tedious journeying, visiting friends and family and finally experiencing some hot and sunny weather albeit patchy. And I managed to give the kids their first experience of a big metropolis during the rioting that was happening a station away in South London! There are usually roadworks wherever we go on holiday so my husband thinks I've hit a new high (or low) by managing to be in the Big Smoke during the worst bit of civil unrest in years - go me!!
