Into the Sun

Something strange is happening. There is a prominent haze that has settled in and around the mountains and valleys of Alaska.

Apparently we are receiving a gift from our friends in China and Russia. There has been a big wind storm in the Gobi desert and dust from China and Mongolia is blowing across the Pacific to Alaska. Also, there are large fires in Russia. The smoke is blowing across the Kamchatka Peninsula to Alaska. More here.

Thus, it is hazy and smoggy. That explains the nice sunsets!

I wonder if we are getting the smog from Beijing?
