Salt house

Finally I made it to the Czech Republic, after my flight problems the previous day. Aborting our original plan to meet at Vienna, Ildi had driven from her home in Budapest, Hungary to our booked room in Ceské Budejovice in the South Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, then on to Prague to collect me from that airport.

Back to Ceské Budejovice, the home of the original Budvar (Budweiser) beer we strolled around this charming town and caught a somewhat sombre glimpse of the increasingly bizarre architectural oddities that we were to be assailed with on our travels, a blend of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.

The town became wealthy due to its breweries, silver mining and salt trade. This ancient salt house presently houses a motorbike museum. The stepped facade was to feature prominently in other buildings we came across, as will be revealed in further blips...

*apologies for the lack of correct Czech accents. Not sure blip can handle them!
