Long Slow Distance

Telc is a picture postcard town in southern Moravia, near Jihlava, in the Czech Republic. The town was founded in 13th century as a royal water fort on the crossroads of busy merchant routes between Bohemia, Moravia and Austria.

Perhaps the most significant feature of the town is its long urban plaza flanked by well-conserved Renaissance and Baroque houses that boast elaborate high gables and arcades. Each facade is different to its neighbour and some of the high gables have false windows (such as the rectangular example in the picture).
