Glenlee......

The last of only 5 Clydebuilt sailing vessels still afloat in the world, the Glenlee launched in December 1896. She represents the final development of the cargo carrying sailing ship.

The Glenlee was built at the Bay Yard in Port Glasgow (Yard No. 324). She was one of a group of 10 steel sailing vessels built to a standard design for the Glasgow shipping firm of Archibald Sterling & Co. Ltd. All of these ships carried the prefix ?Glen? and were known as the ?Glen Line?. During her long career she circumnavigated the world four times and the fearsome Cape Horn on 15 voyages.
