The Edge of the Wold

Toadlet

This little toad is smaller than perhaps he appears in the photo. He was only about 2 to 3 cm long. You can get an idea of his size from the grains of sand on his skin. I found him at the entrance to the disused Middlebarrow Quarry where I went on this evening's blip hunt.

I did take some photos of him face on, but his good looks were marred by a bit of detritus stuck to his jaw. Now you could ask a human model to wipe their face, it's a bit more difficult with a tiny toad.

It had been another busy day at work and there was little chance to get away at lunchtime, while we worked hard to get the paperwork ready for a Tuesday morning deadline.

News from Derby is that my Dad is doing all right, and the hope is that he may be discharged from hospital by the end of the week.
