vada abditae

This is the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord near Flåm, where that ferry has come from.

We got here through the longest road tunnel in the world (24.5km). But it was the small tunnels high up in the mountain passes which made for really exciting driving. Many had long stretches without lighting, the walls were uneven rough-hewn rock and if you met a large oncoming vehicle, it was never entirely clear whether there was enough space to pass. A combination of such tunnels and winding mountain roads took y=us to just under 6000ft, where there was a windswept plateau which reminded me a little of the Western Highlands. The sheep also had that indifference to motor vehicles which surviving such environments seems to breed.
