This old London Taxi sitting at the back of my local garage is the ideal metaphor for modern day Britain: she's iconic and once magificent, but now falling to bits and barely held together by filler and paint - and her replacement will be 100 times better in design and manufacture, and come from the Far East.

Successive UK Governments over the past 30 years or so have let the cracks in Britain's economy become whopping big holes, and I can't see any of those jokers coming up with a filler, can you?
