Heritage

The Uruguayan town of Colonia is just an hour away from Buenos Aires, and has a fascinating historic quarter, which just happens to also be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We spent the afternoon exploring it's cobbled streets and admiring it's many antiques and craft stores.

Like in Buenos Aires, many of the buildings here have been neglected over the years. But I get the sense in this historic quarter that little by little buildings are being restored to their former glory.

If the new blocks of stylish apartments along the coast are anything to go by, there's certainly money being invested locally - hopefully the financial boost will filter through...
