Big day out

Wow its a great day today, first we went to the Metro Premier Rugby Final on the last day of rugby being played at Carisbrook.
Taieri, our local team, were in the final playing Harbour. We have never won the competition outright but in the 50"s we did share it one season with University. Ten years ago they dropped out of the grade altogether through lack of depth but got reinstated just three years ago and won the final this year, a real Cinderella story.
After that excitement we were off to the National Womens Basketball final which Otago, our local province, won easily. We had seats right on the sideline in the hospitality area, what a great night it was.

It got me thinking.....

Just how much of a party is going to be going on at the rugby club over the rest of the weekend there are life members that werent even born when Taieri last had their hands on the banner. This town needs things like this to happen and to have heros for the kids to look up to, no doubt they have them currently.
