Day at the mining museum

Spent a good day at the National Coal Mining Museum today. We started the day off with a trip down the mine. The kids however found the torch battery pack too heavy to carry so i ended up carrying Bens while Mark carried Emily's. I was going to make Ben carry his for a bit until i was informed that Grandma wasn't mean like me and she carried it for him.

We finished the tour off black as we had to rub our hands in the coal dust and then rubbing our hands on the kids faces. They then got the chance to get us back which they did very well.

The afternoon was spent listening to a story about a girl travelling back in time and working down a mine and seeing the pit ponies. And also the kids made a sock puppet each. Emily made a pit pony puppet and Ben made a lion as he isnt very keen on horses!!
