Wild Rose growth

Went to the 40 acre piece today to look at possible building sites for a barn. While the guys were walking around I spotted this wild rose with a 'growth' on it. Looks kinda like moss. Maybe it is. It's a round ball shape though.
Thought it was an interesting thing so am posting it tonight.
