Mount Torlesse at Sunrise

I was out at first light, defrosting my car and driving to the place I took the shot of Castle Hill Peak from. The sky was the softest pink and the snow on the mountains had a hint of blue. I took photos over the next 50 minutes, catching the light as it changed with the rising sun. It seemed that no two minutes were the same. Large

The air was clear and sweet, and it was so quiet. In all that time only two vehicles went past, commuters off to work. Otherwise there were just the sounds of birds- sparrows, blackbirds, thrushes, magpies in the paddock, and a single lark. Overhead was a constant parade of great gulls in loose groups of two or three, meandering leisurely on their way from the river to the hills.
