The odometer is a timely reminder of life passing by - travelling to work, school runs, holidays, visiting friends - often referred to as mum's taxi.

I cherish that quality time spent in the car when I had the undivided attention of my travelling companions, usually my teenage boys, or space to think on long solitary journeys.
