The ones that got away...

I am sure the deer we have round here are a very different sort from the traditional Monarch of the Glen type they have have in the Highlands.

In the Highlands, they stand tall and proud on ridgetops, sniffing the air, waggling their antlers, and looking photogenic as they sneer down condescendingly on the photographer struggling through the heather far below.

Round here, they skulk down in the valleys and take off at warp speed as soon as they sniff an approaching photographer (or his dogs).

Shot early in low light so a bit blurry and grainy, but quite a pleasing effect I think.
