Land of Enchantment

Bakersfield Moon

Last night we headed for a motel after a long day of driving through the Mojave desert and then farm country. It was too hot and too late for camping. Driving through the San Joaquin valley we passed miles of corn, grapes and orchards. We bought a lot of fruit, almonds and pistachios. We had lunch at the farm stand and drove a few hours more. A local Vietnamese restaurant made a welcome change from my campsite cooking. In the morning I took a refreshing swim in the tiny pool. Looking up I could see this moon setting though palm trees. Sure is a different environment than New Mexico.
