Light Pollution - #Langwathby

Try to imagine standing outside on a clear winters night and not seeing stars in the sky. It's actually not going to be that difficult to imagine, as the way households and businesses are illuminating their properties at night is causing more and more light pollution. In this blip you can see Langwathby, a small rural village near Penrith, Cumbria. Langwathby has a huge light pollution problem which has been getting considerably worse over the last few years. Recently one business must have decided that their staff were terribly afraid of the dark and rather than employ someone to hold their hands and scare away the bogey man they installed two massive lights which it appears illuminate more of the sky than anything else. It must be a wealthy company, as lets face it, paying for electricity to illuminate the sky is a pretty pointless exercise.
So, make the most of looking at the stars, because if Langwathby?s pollution is anything to go by we won?t be seeing those stars for much longer.
This is of course my first rant about light pollution of the season ;-)
