Carob harvest

As we were cycling up to Costa Coffee to meet some friends, we saw some people harvesting the ripe carob from the trees on the golf driving range (!). They do it the old-fashioned way, by using big sticks to beat the branches and shake the ripe pods from the trees. I really wanted to get a photo, but we were already late by 20 minutes (we refer to being late as being on "Cyprus time"!). On our way home they had unfortunately finished, but I quite liked the sacks they had used to put the carob in. If this was a better photo you'd be able to make out the wind turbines on the hill in the distance, but I'll have to get a picture of them another day.
