Every year at august 28 it is celebrated that Groningen was released from the siege by the bishop of Munster ("Bommen Berend") in 1672.
This year that would have been on a sunday, that's why they now celebrate it at a saturday.
That's also good for the shops, bars, market and so on, because a lot of tourists came to the city.
Here is Hooge der Aa, with a fair, boatmusic and terraces.
