Car Trip

It's become one of our most popular routines.

I ask, "Does anybody want to go in the car?" and all 4 dogs instantly start whimpering, jumping, and immediately begin following me around the house. As soon as you open the sliding door, they all scramble to see who can get out first. Same goes for the gate too.

Once they reach the car they all head directly for the grass along the carport, eager to mark their territory before they depart. (Y'know, just in case a pack of dogs tries to move in and take over the house while they're out).

I open the car door and slowly, one by one, they jump into the backseat. Benny and Chester immediately head for their "perch" (the space in between the back seat and the rear view window--it gives them a 360 degree view so that they can bark at you while you're stuck behind us at a red light). Collin and Honey are too big for the perch so they sit upright in the back seat.

God help you if they spot a dog or if anyone gets close to the car. Benny and Chester go on the attack. Actually, they don't even need to spot a dog--you just have to say the word "doggies!" and they turn into rabid, barking beasts.

As we drive throughout down, every other person we pass erupts into hysterical laughter. Mom and I also laugh and attempt to apologize for their behavior. Sure it would be easier to just leave them at home to run a simple errand in peace, but really, what fun would that be??? ;o)
