Hurricane on the Brain

My mother and sister live in the same town on a barrier island of Long Island. Altitude, zero feet above sea level. There is a mandatory evacuation. Are they going? No, they aren't. At last word, my mother had agreed to go to my sister's house, only because her landlord was evacuating and he didn't want to be responsible for her. Mom says the evacuation is just politics. I hope it doesn't turn out to be about the weather instead.
