Ticking Away the Moments

Pick Your Own

Needed some provisions so we nipped round to the farm shop this afternoon to find the car park (aka bit of ground just in front of the shop) unusually full. But then the tractor and trailers drove in to the yard and we remembered they were doing 'pick your own' trips to the orchards this weekend.

The trailers were full, mainly of (very noisy!) kids and a few adults, all bearing punnets of Victoria plums. The shop then filled up with everyone coming in to pay for the harvest and the noise levels were amazing - I think the kids had had a great time riding in the trailers behind the tractor.

We bought some that were already picked, as well as a butternut squash (mine haven't grown yet, got a couple of flowers though) and a strange green cauliflower thing I've forgotten the name of - it is delicious though, we've had it before. Also got some locally made strawberry jam, free range eggs and bacon so we're all set for the rest of the weekend.
