Kettles

Our visit to the Luostarinmaki Handicrafts Museum in Turku was accompanied by a thunderstorm, so we dashed from building to building.

Much of Turku was destroyed by a fire in 1827, but this one area of the city escaped destruction and plans were put in place to save it as a museum to illustrate the traditional building types and traditional handicraft skills of the area.

Pre-industrialisation, all matter of things were made by hand, including this collection of pots and kettles. In some of the buildings, costumed interpreters were making things using traditional techniques.
