Cross-eyed Max

A cat's eyes are windows enabling us to see into another world.
- Irish Legend

Max is not amused that Nelson Squirrel feels comfortable enough to gaze in the backdoor demanding peanuts. Max is showing off his magnificent eyes here, we do wonder how well he sees!

I spent the afternoon putting the patio back to right yesterday , hauling stuff out of the barn where it weathered the storm. I'm paying for it today, stiff and sore but so lucky we still have a patio. Many surrounding towns still have no power and schools that open before Labor Day are cancelled in many communities. When T got home we picked up boughs and branches and saw more trees that have been damaged. I think the catalpa on the front lawn will have to come down, that will be complicated by the cable wire that threads through it's branches. I love the blossoms and long green pods, but the branches do hang so low that it makes mowing difficult around it.

Our bundled cable/internet & phone services were restored yesterday by late afternoon. Watching the news last night was painful. We both shed tears for our New England neighbors in Vermont, what tragic sights, a long long clean up will never really restore things I'm afraid. So many charming towns have lost so, so much.

I took out my rarely used Nikkor 50mm this morning and remembered how nice it is...

For the Record,
This day came in sunny and cool, a perfect end of summer day.
