Shattered.

Our car was stolen today from a parking lot while we were at the Warriors game. We were in a good mood as we walked away from the stadium after a win, then got there to find some broken glass on the ground and no car. Thankfully Jen's family was there in another car and we weren't stranded.

We went to the Otahuhu police station to report it and it was closed! Who ever heard of a police station closed. Apparently crime only happens on weekdays from 9-5.

So the sign said drive to the Manukau station which we did and we reported it.

The extra bad news is that Jen's purse was in there, so she had to cancel her credit cards and all that. When she called them up they had already been used fraudulently a few times. But we got what we thought was some valuable info which was where and when they had been used, so we got a location of the thieves.

Called the police to give them this info and they weren't really interested. it took 30 minutes on the phone to find someone who'd even listen to it, and by that time it was that fresh anymore. We were almost tempted to drive down to the address of the liquor store they were at and go look for our car. The gas station and liquor store where the cards were used probably have security camera's too, but who knows if anyone will ever bother to have a look.

So now we wait and hope that maybe it's recovered. Thankfully it's insured. And we have contents insurance which should cover our possessions that were inside (thank god my camera was not in there!). So in the end we probably won't lose more than $500-$1000, plus a huge amount of hassle with replacing everything and dealing with the insurance companies. We're incredibly lucky to have a junker car to barrow in the meantime. Major bummer on what should have been a happy day with the Warriors getting a desperately needed win in the rain.

The photo if of our kicker, Michael Witt, just as he slipped while kicking an extra point in the pouring rain. I think he hurt his ankle or knee on the play. We're praying he's not seriously injured because we've already lost our best 5 or 6 players to injury this year. It was dumping rain, and not a pretty game, but we got the win. Thank god something went right today.

If you see a bunch of drunk kids driving around South Auckland in a white Toyota Corolla hatch with a broken window, please let me know.
