Winter Into Spring

Or is that spring into winter? The weather is so changeable I can't tell.

The blossoms on the little apricot tree have been pelted with hail and swaddled in snow. They no longer look as lavish as they did two days ago, but most of them are holding on. Although it is now about eight years old I have never had fruit from this tree. It always starts its season too early. The spring frosts usually get the blossoms or the young fruit. One year, during a period of severe frosts the branches split open and oozed gum. I'm not giving up on it though. The big apricot tree took several years to adapt to a very windy position, but it can hold onto its fruit now.

To get this shot I had to trim the top off a Japonica bush. With secateurs mind, not with PhotoShop.
