Blocked drain

It's not a good sign when the water you put down the sink comes back up, with an entourage of gunk and yuck.

I've not inherited a natural talent for DIY, but I attempted the following task with bags of initiative, resourcefulness and determination none-the-less!

To unblock a bathroom sink you will need:

- 1 screwdriver
- 1 pair of pliers
- 1 water receptacle (champagne bucket will do)
- 1 disposable chop stick (not the good ones from John Lewis!)
- a supply of paper towels, towels and patience.

Method:

1. Unscrew tubey thing.
2. Drain water into Moët bucket. Slowly. Ever so slowly.
3. Remove minimal amount of gunk with pliers and screwdriver.
4. Reseal tubey thing.
5. Pour waste water down toilet.
6. Run hot tap.

Repeat steps 1 to 6 a couple of times during ad breaks for Modern Family

7. Look confused as water still doesn't appear to drain.
8. Unscrew tubey thing. Again.
9. Stick chop into plug hole.
10. Wiggle vigorously until something budges.
11. Look on as a trickle of water becomes a mini torrent, flushing gunk, yuck and blah onto bathroom floor. Swearing optional.

Decide this is the optimal time to Blip the moment

12. Reseal tubey thing.
13. Clean up mess.
14. Dispose of chop stick, paper towel, and waste water.
15. Look smug.
