It Was Twenty Years Ago Today...

...that our journey together began in Barcelona. It was and still is the greatest 'opening' of our lives that we have experienced; we resigned our jobs (a legal partnership and PR senior managership, respectively) and set off into the unknown where the only certainties were that we didn't know the language, that we had to learn it within one year for me to be able to complete the second year of my course, that I wasn't going to earn money for two years of MBA study (self-funded with a credit line from NatWest), that DD had to start earning within one month of arrival to ensure we had food on the table (in the event she found a job within eight days), and we both needed visas (student and work, respectively) to enter this city where no-one spoke a word of English, and which all English people considered a dangerous, dirty port to be avoided at all costs on any trip to Spain. Changed days, but what a journey these feet have made in that time. Here they are planted on the slate of Cadaques, which has always given a sense of sound foundation throughout our time in Spain.
