Craft & Life

Event City

Went to a craft show at Event City close to the Trafford Centre today. It was a good day with a good amount of stalls. Lots of different crafts were well represented and a couple of clothing stalls were also there.

I attended two workshops, one showing how to make a twisted wire necklace and the other showing how to make Japanese Kanzashi flowers. The first workshop i struggled with because i couldn't see to thread the very small beads and the second one because i can't sew very well, what a day lol.

The picture is of one of the Japanese fabrics that out tutor Jill brings back from Japan every time she visits. She is fluent in Japanese and is a tour guide, she takes parties of around eight people per time to visit Japan in the spring and in the Autumn. Jill asked me to go to her stall after the workshop so she could show me slowly how to make the flowers which is how i found out so much about her and her fabrics.

Spent far too much but managed to get a few items that i needed to replace and a few items that i have added to my tool kit.

Two purchases were definitely not needed but i got them anyway as i can use one of them for xmas presents. Got a set of nail polishes by a company called Silver Fern; these polishes can be used on acetate, glass, leather and wood as well as nails and i loved the wonderful tiny nibs to decorate with. The second purchase was a handbag, lets say no more than i saved £30 on the price it should have been.

Not been to a craft show since 2009, jewellery shows yes but not craft so i had a wonderful time and am now saving up for the next one in late 2012.

Thanks for dropping by:-)
