for comfort and convenience

In my recently-inaugurated official third Box of Bike Shite there are now two empty and intact left-hand brake shoe holder-things, one right-hand brake shoe holder-thing where the head of the insert-retaining screw has been severely mangled in trying to unstick it and one where the insert-retaining screw is jammed but has not yet been mangled and which will probably be coaxed out by gouging out the remains of the insert from beneath it in order to be able to try and ease it out by twisting it from both ends to try and avoid rounding-off the Allen keyhole at the head. The pads on the rear still have a bit to go before they need to be replaced but I'm expecting atleast one insert-retaining screw to be gummed-up to the point of requiring soaking/coaxing out. I have therefore made certain that the insert-retaining screws of the new insert-holders just mounted at the front (with salmon-pink soggy-weather Koolstop pads in place of the stock crap black stuff which results in black crap stuff all over the tyre, rim, hub and eventually fingers) are sufficiently lubed to be unlikely to gum up. The beard-hair which crept onto the cotton-bud with which I was applying the grease (from a reservoir at the bottom of the freezer bag in which I keep the tube of grease off which the nozzle snapped, rendering it unsealable) was removed before insertion.
