Seeding Time

Canada thistle is ready to spread its seeds all over the municipality. This patch grows head high beside the upper road where our cabin is. It probably arrived on the blades and tracks of the heavy equipment that the rural municipal council hired about ten years ago to dig a drainage channel that travels uphill.

This year, in their wisdom they've seen fit to install six streetlights in the subdivision for the "security" of the handful of cottage owners who live there year round. Some areas in Canada are working hard to maintain "dark sky preserves" but not these bozosfolks. I could go on...

The provincial government is considering the feasibility of designating the provincial forest where our subdivision is located a provincial park instead. The forest encompasses four distinct ecological zones in a relatively small area. We can only hope that such a decision would curtail some of the municipal silliness.

Okay, end of rant. And I do like the picture. Maybe I'm just irritable because it was a beautiful day but we had to drive home.
