New York day 4

Today we went on the downtown bus tour and 'hopped off' at the Empire State Building. We went right up to the 86th floor and hardly had to wait at all so that was good and we enjoyed the view. We then went up to Grand Central Station which is an amazing building and then got back on the bus. Our tour guide on the new bus was pretty pathetic, and obviously wanted to be discovered as a comedian. He wasn't funny, and didn't get a great response. Plus some of his jokes were a bit inappropriate.

In the evening we went up to the West Village for dinner at a fancy tapas restaurant that had been recommended to us, called Alta. I really liked this bit of New York, it is the only bit I could see myself living in although apparently everyone else feels the same and it is now prohibitively expensive. Famous fictional residents (whose houses we did a quick walk past) include Monica from Friends and Carrie from Sex and the City.
