The Edge of the Wold

Converging lines

This is a scene that has been blipped before, but to be fair it's always different depending on light, state of the tide, sediment patterns and time of day. In the foreground the last few timbers standing from a long disappeared jetty. In the background the Arnside Viaduct, recently strengthened and painted.

The sun came out briefly today and in the evening the moon made a fleeting appearance. I walked along the River Kent in Kendal at lunchtime, and its level has fallen almost 2 metres since its peak. It's such a flashy river. The volume of water coming down into the estuary in Arnside is still visibly much greater than usual.

Oh for a clear, misty morning, but it doesn't look like there's much prospect for a while.

Today was my last day in work for over a week. On the weekend we are heading south to see my Dad. A rest day tomorrow, and a chance to get the garden tidied and a few other jobs done.
