Fly agaric

Out with the spaniel at dawn this morning. Unfortunately I left my bean bag at home. It was really gloomy in the woods so most of my photographs had some camera shake and went in the bin. Instead of a lovely saffron milkcap I'm starting my collection of fungi images with the fly agaric, the quintessential 'toadstool' from fairy stories. Apparently the name refers either to its hallucinogenic properties or to its traditional use (chopped and floated in milk) as a fly trap.
